Adjunct position Spr 2026 at WSU Vancouver: SOE 280 “How the Climate System Works”

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:55 – 4:10p (in-person preferred, will consider hybrid in-person and remote instruction)

Spring Semester 2026:  16 weeks, from January 5 – May 8 (contracted time: January 1 – May 15, 2026)

 This 200-level (lower division) undergraduate course focuses on introducing students to the Earth’s climate system and providing a scientific foundation for making informed evaluations about management and policy.  This course fulfills the Physical Science component of the WSU general education (UCORE) requirements. There are no prerequisites for this course, thus students may include both Environmental Science majors as well as non-science majors.

 Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a M.S. or Ph.D. in a related discipline. Preferred qualifications include experience teaching undergraduate courses at the college level and situating content within core curriculum objectives, ability to relate especially to non-majors, as well as proven competency in teaching hybrid courses and familiarity with Canvas. Applicants with a Ph.D. in a field closely related to the course material being delivered will be given preference in the selection process. 

 Compensation:  $4,923 (M.S.) or $5,169 (Ph.D)
