Traditional Ecological Knowledge: 2023 RWFM Spring Seminar Series

Ty Werdel, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow, provides an introduction to the concept of Traditional Ecological Knowledge, as well as an overview of the speakers and subject matter that will be covered in our 11-part spring seminar series that brings together experts and practitioners from across Central and North America. Born on the Lake Traverse Reservation in northeastern South Dakota, Werdel is of Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate and Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa descent. His research interests include the fields of wildlife management and landscape ecology, and he is currently the program coordinator for the Native Student Professional Development Program administered by the Native Peoples’ Wildlife Management Working Group of The Wildlife Society.
