Env Research The role of dispersal behavior in designing reserves for endangered species. Individual and population-level responses to conservation tools such as fire, mowing and herbicides. Captive propagation on endangered butterflies. Biology of rare butterfly species. Restoration of endangered species habitats. Prairie conservation in Washington and Oregon.
Env Outreach – Council Member, Washington Natural Heritage Advisory Council. Appointed by Doug Sutherland, Washington Commissioner of Public Lands – Recovery Team Leader, US Fish and Wildlife Service Recovery Team for Western Oregon and Southwest Washington Prairie Species. Oversees recovery of the endangered Fenders blue butterfly, 5 threatened and endangered plants species, and 5 plant species-of-concern – Scientific Advisor: Army Compatible Use Buffer program for U. S. Army at Fort Lewis – Scientific Advisor: Benton County, Oregon Habitat Conservation Plan Technical Advisory Committee – Counselor/Scientific Advisor, Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation – Science Advisor, West Eugene Wetlands.
