The Northwest Knowledge Network (NKN) is a research support unit of the Office of Research and Economic Development that partners with the library and Information Technology Services unit at the University of Idaho, and the Department of Energy Idaho National Laboratory. NKN operates as a federally compliant academic service center to provide secure data storage; database and application programming; hosting of web sites, databases and virtual machines; and consulting regarding research metadata, policies, and proposal development. NKN supports approximately thirty different research projects, large and small, with the goal of helping researchers efficiently access and use data and computing tools in their research. NKN also participates and partners with national and international data management initiatives for research data management.
This talk with overview the evolution of NKN, describe some of the projects and activities NKN supports, and opportunities for collaboration in training and cyberinfrastructure to support science.
