Engaged! A Conversation on Enabling Community Engaged Research at Washington State University

Do you engage with society in your environmental research? Are you working at WSU to enable community engaged research? Join the Center for Environmental Research, Education, and Outreach (CEREO) for a one-day summit to learn about current initiatives and how to support community engaged research to tackle complex issues in a changing world.

In addition to learning about ongoing research and efforts across WSU to support it, you will engage in small group discussions to share your ideas and perspectives on how the institution can most effectively foster and support community engaged research.

Office of Research, Center directors, and grassroots leaders in institutionalizing community engaged research will share programs, initiatives and efforts that currently exist at WSU.

Participants will join breakout groups to reflect on how WSU programs and initiatives to support community engaged research fill the needs of those carrying out community engaged research, and provide recommendations of what the institution can do to fill remaining gaps.
2:15 – 3:15REPORT OUT: Recommendations for enabling community engaged research in the environmental fields at WSU
Everyone will come back together to hear breakout group moderators report out a summary of the recommendations that arose from their breakout group.

All panelists—those involved in community engaged research and those leading efforts to support community engaged research—will reflect on what they heard and the potential for future action at WSU.
