Engaged Climate Research – Proposal Development Workshop

WSU research covers a broad range of activities related to climate change effects, mitigation, prediction, adaptation, and impact. These activities are enhanced through strong connections to Extension and our non-academic community partners. WSU researchers advance our land-grant mission by combining scholarly pursuits with community-driven needs to address critical questions in areas including, but not limited to, environment and health, green design and infrastructure, renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, water sustainability, forest resilience, and more.

In recognition of the challenges that interdisciplinary, community-engaged research poses, the Center for Environmental Research, Education, and Outreach (CEREO), and in partnership with the Office of Research Advancement and Partnerships (ORAP), is hosting a 1.5 day workshop to support teams pursuing competitive funding on interdisciplinary, environmental topics related to climate change. The workshop will focus on the early stages of proposal development. During the workshop, teams will work to collaboratively develop and refine a research question and plan for proposal submission. The process will include hands-on training in interdisciplinary team-building and idea generation, as well as tips for honing the skills needed to engage in the co-production of science with community and academic partners. Two teams with the most promising ideas will receive a small ($5k) grant to support their continued work.
